Vice-chairman Cllr Phil Wright
I was born in Holt and lived in the town all my life until recently, when, for family reasons we moved to Sheringham. Although I dearly hope to return to Holt in the not-too-distant future. On my mother’s side of the family, we have been resident in Holt since 1748 and possibly earlier, so I can confidently say I am Holt born and bred.
I took early retirement seven years ago following a busy 40 plus year career as a Management Consultant and Project Manager in the Oil & Gas industry, which took me to many different countries, but my home and family has always remained in Holt.
Since retiring I have been an active member of the Holt Community, both as a volunteer and as a Holt Town Councillor since 2017.
I am proud to have been Vice Chairman of Holt Town Council and Deputy Mayor of Holt for the past four years. I serve on various Holt Town Council sub-committees, including the sub-committee for management of Spout Hills and The Little Hills, of which I have been Chairman since 2021.
Through HTC, I will continue to promote the town for more social housing to be made available to local people; to secure land for industry, to provide jobs for Holt people; to ensure that Spout Hills, The Little Hills and The Lowes always remain accessible for Holt residents to enjoy.
I would like to see more shops for local people to purchase everyday items, such as clothing for all ages, school uniforms, shoes and other everyday items. What the town does not want is too many more holiday lets, second homes or coffee shops.”
